Friday TED Talk: Tim Berners-Lee on the Future Internet

The real inventor of the World-Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, gave a fascinating talk at the TED 2009 Conference about where the Internet is headed next---open, linked data for all to use:

There is more background on this talk here.  For those with the appropriate viewer, here is a link to a high-resolution MP4 version of the talk.

  1. Tim Berners-Lee is an engaging and infectiously persuasive speaker, and clearly very knowledgeable.

Do I think his ideas should be acted upon, as he so strongly urges? Yes. (It is difficult to say no, since I'm benefiting from one of them right now.)

Do I have any concerns about all this? Well, yes... how much more difficult will it be for me to protect my own private data? If I understood him correctly, he is suggesting that I, personally, should be linked as an http address !
