Would they not do it just for the purpose of throwing sabots into the legal machinery run by judges and courts that are not really competent to sort out the true historical relationships and legal precendents?
I shall follow your lead in this as we talk about it in the parish hall this Sunday. It is becoming easier for me to just drive 12 blocks over to Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic and sit in the back pew. But our family has three or four lines that are Church of England back to the time the Hebrews left Egypt.

A willing acolyte and follower.
El Gringo ViejoDavid Christian Newtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02486433908063462273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-759178030677978044.post-20455718291782954762012-08-14T10:45:34.305-07:002012-08-14T10:45:34.305-07:00It would seem wise to me to allow the Episcopal Fo...It would seem wise to me to allow the Episcopal Forum folk to withdraw from the Diocese, with the approval of the Diocese, and perhaps transfer the property interest in those parishes to another diocese in South Carolina. It would seem too that DSC, should it decide to withdraw its accession, must remain independent and unaffiliated for some time, at least until the statue of limitations on causes of action related to real property or breach of fiduciary duty have passed.MSMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00913947414188886134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-759178030677978044.post-31762798056856002992012-08-14T07:11:51.144-07:002012-08-14T07:11:51.144-07:00Fr. Seel, Pittsburgh, Fort Worth, Quincy and San Joaquin all held diocesan conventions in which they voted to withdraw their accession to the Constitution of ECUSA, and to align themselves with a different province. In every case, litigation ensued, which is thus far concluded only in the case of Pittsburgh (where it came to an abrupt end because of the court's idiosyncratic reading of an earlier stipulation regarding procedures).

South Carolina, thus far, has not realigned with any other Anglican province; it remains a full voting member of ECUSA. As long as it does so, ECUSA can make no claim (imaginary or not) to its property and assets. I am writing this series of articles to explore what are the limits of what both South Carolina and ECUSA could do if they each remain joined to the other.A. S. Tis strange, the law of God compels the godly to act as true as the law of greed compels the other. At some point, the greedy must deem themselves to lose a match or two, but then again, the trumpets would have blown and the walls are seen crumbling if they lose just one.Milton Finchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06751775714568357428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-759178030677978044.post-9896257609436793312012-08-13T12:48:27.988-07:002012-08-13T12:48:27.988-07:00The financial burden of the Diocese of South Carol...The financial burden of the Diocese of South Carolina to defend such a lawsuit(s) will have to be considered. Does it have the money in reserve to pay for its own attorneys over a long period of time? It is not inconceivable that TEC would legally harass DSC in an attempt to force submission or negotiation to their benefit.Rev. The difference in the case of one parish vs a diocese might be enough to get the court to write another opinion (which will likely be the same as the earlier one if I had to guess).Undergroundpewsterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10182191422663119484noreply@blogger.com
